Save on hot water bills
There are two main types of hot water systems used within residential situations, with both having benefits for you to consider when making the decision on how to choose the right system. Here we will look at both Electric Heat Pump Storage and Gas Continuous Flow. We will discuss how to save money with a hot water tank and what is a continuous flow hot water system.
Heat pump storage hot water systems have been around for a very long time and in the past couple of decades, the technology has been refined to suit the demand of the Australian climate. Manufactured in Australia, the Rheem Ambiheat HDC-270 heavy-duty heat pump system is a smart, energy-efficient system. It extracts heat from the surrounding air to heat your water, working day and night to provide a reliable, efficient, and sustainable way to reduce your water heating energy consumption. It doesn’t rely on direct sunlight to operate, compared to traditional solar hot water services.
The Rheem Ambiheat HDC-270: What we love the most about heat pump storage hot water systems:
You can potentially have free hot water. We can program the system to switch on with a timer during the day to heat the water in the tank when your PV solar panels are creating energy, rather than sending the power back to the grid and buying it back at a higher tariff in the evening. Or alternatively set the timer to the shoulder tariff rate during the day when all the other homes are sending power to the grid. Either way, it’s green energy.
- Advanced wrap-around microchannel heating technology for uniform and faster water heating.
- Suitable for cold climates with an operating range from -5°C to +43°C.
- Suitable for harsh water conditions.
- Can save up to 68% on your water heating energy consumption compared to an electric water heater in Zone 3
- The high recovery rate for fast heating and 2.4kW backup element.
- User-friendly touch screen LED display.
- Eligible for STC rebates to save you money.
- 7-year cylinder warranty.
- Suitable for 2 to 5 people.
What is a Continuous Flow Hot Water System?
Continuous flow gas water heaters deliver hot water that will never run out because they heat water when you need it, for as long as you need it. Continuous flow water heaters work differently from storage water heaters, only using natural gas or LPG to heat on demand rather than heating and storing water until needed. Mounted to the wall and taking up less space, they are ideal for a compact home site or apartment.
What we love the most about gas continuous flow systems:
They are a space-saving, compact solution for urban environments and the unit only heats water as it is used, saving water and energy as opposed to gas storage systems. The units are relatively cost-effective to install and easy to maintain. We are looking forward to the future and excited about green carbon-neutral hydrogen gas coming.
The Rheem continuous flow hot water systems are generally 6-star energy efficient appliances, with some even making the 7-star green range when they incorporate using the flue gases to heat the water too. The systems have been refined and developed over years of research and real data to create seriously smart systems that can be run on flow settings as low as 2 litres per minute and even programmed to deliver exact temperatures to your bathroom to minimise gas consumption even further.
